Summer of '99 and Beyond Cruise 2026: Photographing Creed's Rock Music Festival at Sea

Event Photography Case Study | Vega Luxe Creative x Sixthman’s Summer of 99 and Beyond Cruise

For the third year in a row, our team had the opportunity to photograph the Summer of '99 and Beyond Cruise, one of the most unique live music experiences at sea.

The 2026 sailing marked the fourth year of the cruise and featured an incredible lineup led by Creed, alongside Daughtry, Collective Soul, Filter, Living Colour, Black Stone Cherry, Nonpoint, Dirty Honey, Oleander, 12 Stones, Tim Montana, Smile Empty Soul, and more.

Over four days, thousands of fans sailed from Miami to Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas, transforming a cruise ship into a floating rock festival packed with live performances, artist experiences, theme nights, and unforgettable moments.

As event photographers, it's one of our favorite assignments each year because no two days ever look the same.

The Challenge: Capturing a Multi-Day Music Festival at Sea

Photographing a music cruise requires a different approach than a traditional concert or festival.

Instead of documenting a single performance, we're tasked with capturing the full experience.

That means moving between:

  • Live concert photography

  • Meet and greets

  • Artist panels

  • Pool deck performances

  • Fan experiences

  • Theme nights

  • Brand activations

  • Destination experiences in Great Stirrup Cay

  • Behind-the-scenes moments throughout the ship

The goal isn't just to photograph who was on stage. It's to tell the story of what it felt like to be there.

Documenting the Fan Experience

One of the things that makes the Summer of '99 and Beyond Cruise special is the connection between artists and fans.

Unlike traditional concerts, guests spend multiple days alongside the artists they grew up listening to.

Throughout the sailing, fans had opportunities to attend intimate performances, participate in activities, meet artists, and create memories that simply aren't possible in a traditional venue setting.

As photographers, these are often the moments we find ourselves drawn to most.

The reactions.

The reunions.

The excitement of hearing a favorite song live.

The friendships that form between people who may have arrived as strangers but leave feeling like family.

A Day in Great Stirrup Cay

One of the highlights of the sailing was our stop at Great Stirrup Cay, the private island destination in the Bahamas.

Between crystal-clear water, white sand beaches, and a relaxed island atmosphere, the destination offered a completely different visual backdrop from the concerts and events happening onboard.

For our team, it provided an opportunity to capture guests experiencing both sides of the cruise: the high-energy rock festival environment and the laid-back tropical escape that makes these sailings so unique.

Our Approach to Cruise Event Photography

At Vega Luxe Creative, our goal is to create a complete visual story of an event.

For multi-day experiences like the Summer of '99 and Beyond Cruise, that means balancing large-scale moments with the small details that often become the most meaningful photographs.

From packed theater performances and sunset pool deck sets to candid interactions between friends, every image contributes to the larger story.

After photographing dozens of music cruises over the years, we've learned that the moments people remember most are often the ones that happen between the headline performances.

Final Thoughts

Three years into photographing the Summer of '99 and Beyond Cruise, one thing remains true: this event is about more than music.

It's about nostalgia.

It's about community.

And it's about bringing together thousands of people who share a connection to the songs that helped shape their lives.

We're grateful to continue documenting these experiences and helping tell the story of one of the most passionate fan communities at sea.

Below are some of our favorite images from the 2026 Summer of '99 and Beyond Cruise featuring Creed, Daughtry, Collective Soul, Filter, Living Colour, Black Stone Cherry, Nonpoint, Dirty Honey, and more.
